This past spring I bought several magazine subscriptions that my daughter was selling for school. ONe of them was GQ. It started coming this summer, and yesterday this mammoth issue came--looks like a phone book! Apparently they do this yearly "style" issue. Anyway, I have browsed through abou a third of it thus far,and at this point, the vast MAJORITY of the models, even those in the full suit, are longhaired men. Now, most are sporting hair that is just beginning to touch the shoulders, but a few are sporting hair long enough to be in a ponytail.

Surprisingly, none that I have seen so far is actually wearing a tail. I keep reminding myself that these are men being photographed for a mag picture, and that the actual walking around at work reality of hair is a "little" different.

Anyway, it's really nice to see so much long hair in one of the top men's fashion magazines.

Hey Robert, good post. I usually buy the GQ fall fashion issue every year (and there's one in the spring as well), in part to check out the long hair styles. It's amazing their influence, though, even if businesses haven't begun to see and increase in men with long hair. As a high school teacher, however, I was amazed a week ago when school began at how very many high school boys (freshmen - senior) are wearing their hair long now. I teach an evening a week at a junior college and I am seeing the same thing there. So these male models have a very subtle influence, at least to some degree. If you go to Barnes & Noble's magazine section, there are other men's mags that also feature longer haired male models and personalities. Anyway, I just thought I'd comment here.   Interesting. I am seeing quite a few more male students with long hair this year, also. The trend seems to be spreading.

    This trend has to be a good thing. It vindicates us guys to all those who keep telling us that long hair is out. Personally I'm not one to follow trends and I think the same would go for the rest of you guys but maybe we can now argue that we are just ahead of our time!lol.

  I like the idea of buying the magazines at the news stand or bookstore--especially if they have a large selection. This allows me to see what each magazine is really like before I buy it and later subscribe to it if I like it.
  My buying through a college student or school subscription service was a big mistake because I wasn't aware of what I was buying, and cancelling one of the subscriptions and getting off many mailing lists was almost impossible.

I've noticed at style.com that many of the new collections have models that are sporting long hair also. Looks like the Ricky Martin hair cut is dead. :)

  I'm not sure what the "Ricky Martin" haircut is, but even Ricky had been letting his hair grow longer from CD to CD, at least as of a year or so ago. :)
