Awkward Stage question

Hi,
I'm now in my 5th month of hair growth; I've been able to "control" my puffy wavy with gel for the past five months until last week. What is happening is this bit of hair right above my ear on both sides is sticking up like Alphalpha. I cannot keep it down with gel, leave in conditioner, etc. My only idea is too start combing the sides of my hair over my ears but I find it looks stupid on me. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

This is the stage that kept me from letting mine grow the same length all the way around for years. The whole "ear" thing would drive me crazy.
What I did was use alot of hair spray and wear a ball cap. I would try to get as much of it under the cap as I could.
If you are in a situation where you can't wear a cap, I guess just glue it down the best you can.
Hang in there, you'll get past this stage and things will be much more managable.
